Port Macquarie gym rebrands as Genesis Health and Fitness

The Genesis Health and Fitness franchise network is expanding up the NSW coast as serial franchisee John Pirlo re-brands an existing gym site this month in Port Macquarie.

The existing site, Five Star Fitness, has been rebranded as Genesis and is immediately receiving a facelift, new equipment and new classes, with a larger scale renovation scheduled over the coming few months.

Pirlo, who already owns two Genesis gyms in Coffs Harbour and six in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region said Port Macquarie was an obvious location to fill between Newcastle and Coffs Harbour and has been on his radar for some time.

Pirlo, who is Managing Director of Genesis’ largest multi venue franchise enthused “I’m really excited about this location. I’ve spent a lot of time in Port Macquarie and it is a great coastal town with a great active community.

“The former site has been running for more than 20 years and is in a great location with a beautiful culture and staff, so it’s the perfect place to launch and grow from.”

Next Pirlo has his sights set on Lake Macquarie advising “the last few months we have seen an influx of gym reassurance – people are heading back and are very motivated.

“I’m keen to continue expanding so we can the inspire more people to move and to get Genesis services to more communities.”

Genesis Health and Fitness Chief Executive Ian Jensen Muir welcomed the site into the Genesis family adding “we look forward to seeing the space evolve under John’s expert guidance and we’re thrilled to now have a location in Port Macquarie.”
