Genesis Health and Fitness continues network expansion with new Queensland club
As part of a continually expanding portfolio, Belgravia Health and Fitness has today opened Genesis Health and Fitness’ 12th club in Queensland – sited in Gympie, 160 kilometres north of Brisbane.
A former Anytime Fitness facility it has been acquired and re-opened under the Genesis Health and Fitness brand by new franchisee Peter McLeay.
A former Logistics Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, McLeay now owns a chain of eight backpacker sites in Cairns and Sydney, which he started himself and is also a part-owner of a craft brewery in Cairns.
The branding transition has seen the club undergo an initial internal facelift, freshening up the space, in-line with Genesis Health and Fitness’ branding. Equipment is also being updated on an on-going basis.
With Gympie being a regional town, the core focus is to build a friendly, community-based environment for members, aiming to make each visit an enjoyable experience.
As McLeay explains “in my own fitness journey, I find it easiest to get to the gym or sport if I’m doing it with a friend or going for the social environment. I’m looking forward to my staff being a friendly face and providing some social interaction with members rather than just being a 24/7 gym.
“Genesis Health and Fitness provides strong support with an experienced staff structure. I like the franchise model where both franchisee and franchisor are rewarded. It encourages an ongoing relationship between parties.”
Welcoming the additional franchise, Belgravia Health and Fitness Chief Executive Ian Jensen Muir, stated “we constantly aim to deliver the best member experience at every interaction. We’re excited to have our new franchisee, Peter, and his team on board as they focus on helping to create an active, healthy community in Gympie.”
