Genesis Fitness Melton’s Swim School wins Life Saving Victoria Award

Melton Swim School, located in Genesis Fitness Melton, has been awarded the Swim and Survive Licensee of the Year 2017 by Life Saving Victoria.

Swim and Survive is a Life Saving Victoria program taught by accredited aquatic centres across the state, and provides learning pathways in swimming and water safety education for children from six months to 14 years of age.

Nikki Thorp and Helen Smith, Melton Swim School Managers, said the swimming and water safety teachers are AUSTSWIM certified and are passionate about working with children.

Thorp explained “we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life.

“Developing healthy habits with regular physical activity that is fun, together with safe water practices is important for children, as they will carry these skills with them for life.”

Melton Swim School’s swimming and water safety program teaches children how to be safer in, on and around water, as well as swimming technique.

Smith added “we want to play our part to help reduce drowning statistics by inviting local preschools to participate in a free water safety talk for kids and parents.

“Our Melton swim team also facilitates the Water Smart Certificate and the Victorian Water Safety Certificate for primary and secondary schools.”

Melton Swim School has recently opened Sunday morning classes. Early bird classes are available before school and holiday programs are also on offer.
