Inaugural Victorian Medieval Festival to be held at Kryal Castle
The inaugural Victorian Medieval Festival will be held at Kryal Castle, Ballarat on the 3rd-4th December for which thousands of people are expected to attend.
The event is being held in the Central Highlands of Victoria, just one hour out of Melbourne and will offer visitors the opportunity to see “spectacular jousting knights, ferocious Vikings, birds of prey and more”.
Visitors of all ages are invited to step back in time and enter the Festival’s living medieval village, for an immersive experience brought to life by over 150 talented re-enactors from around Australia.
General Manager Bart Hamilton says the new festival will recreate life as it was in the Middle Ages and shares “this festival promises to be an experience like no other. It is a unique and amazing family experience, featuring the clash of swords, the thunder of hooves and the smashing of lances.
“Top notch jousters, including current world champion and Ballarat local, Phillip Leitch, will go head-to-head in the jousting championship.”
The family-friendly Victorian Medieval Festival boasts a range of activities for all ages, including:
•Spectacular jousting knights
•A living medieval village filled with more than 150 historical reenactors
•Authentic medieval merchants
•Traditional birds of prey
•Taste of History night-time food market and tavern with a specially brewed beer offering
•A life-size trebuchet (giant medieval catapult)
•Kids’ activities including knight’s school, archery, demonstrations, displays and hands-on learning
Victorian Medieval Festival tickets are all-inclusive and on sale now. Ticket numbers are limited and are pre-purchase only, no tickets will be available at the gate.
