FILEX to return as organisers commit to future fitness trade show
The organisers of the annual FILEX convention - the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fitness event - have committed to the popular event returning to Sydney, backed by a trade shows/exhibition.
With Reed Exhibitions this week announcing that they will no longer be presenting The Fitness Show, held annually in both Sydney (where it was co-located with FILEX) and Melbourne, the organisers of FILEX have advised that the Convention will be unaffected by the change.
In keeping with its mission to bring the fitness industry together, the board of FILEX have undertaken to negotiate with key stakeholders to keep this important annual a trade shows/exhibition event running.
Andrew Simmons, Chairman of Filex Holdings, advised "the trade show and exhibition have run hand in hand with FILEX for close to 30 years, and we strongly believe that this annual tradition is not only the yearly meeting point for the trainers and fitness businesses, but also part of the fabric of the entire industry.
“We are confident that this view is shared by the fitness industry as a whole and we are in discussions with past and present stakeholders, as well as the ICC to make sure that this important event not only continues, but transitions to build a stronger, more exciting and contemporary offering for the industry.”
The Fitness Show has been running annually under various names and owners since the 1990s.
The organisers of FILEX see that it is a vital that this much loved event runs concurrently and is co-located with the Convention, which is a separately owned fitness education conference part owned by Fitness Australia, the peak national fitness body.
The organisers of FILEX expect to make an announcement about future plans for the exhibition in the coming weeks.
