Belgravia Leisure looks to hire up to 1,500 lifeguards and swim teachers ahead of summer

Belgravia Leisure is seeking for 1,500 pool lifeguards and swim teachers across Australia this summer to help keep their communities safe.

Promoting its extensive lifeguard and swim teacher vacancies, the leading facility management company is calling for applicants for these key roles, with applications open now across the country.

In a statement, Belgravia Leisure advise “now is the perfect time for people to sign up for these jobs, to start training ahead of the busy summer period. And it’s work that isn’t just for the young and sporty - people of all ages and backgrounds make fantastic lifeguards and swim teachers.”

Pool lifeguard applicants must be at least 16 years old and don’t need any prior experience or to provide a CV to sign up as all training is provided, leading to qualifications in lifesaving, first aid and CPR.

Belgravia Leisure Aquatic Safety Manager, Scott Vanderheyden states “lifeguards and swim teachers play a rewarding role in ensuring safe venues for the community.

“Their roles are focused on preventing incidents and accidents from occurring, rather than responding when someone is in trouble. Being in a role teaching children or adults to swim, or a lifeguard educating a swimmer on safe swimming areas, forms a large part of the social fabric of our society.”

Advising that people who want to make a difference in their communities often become pool lifeguards and swim teachers, RJ Houston, Royal Life Saving Society - Australia’s General Manager -Capability and Industry, explains “Royal Life Saving research has shown that aquatic industry workers gain enjoyment and satisfaction from making a positive impact on people’s lives and helping make people be safe around water.

“We also know that these roles are really attractive to students or people looking for a more flexible career option.”

Not only do pool lifeguards and swim teachers get to enjoy the social nature of their jobs, exercise and keep fit, they keep communities safe.
