Registrations close soon for Royal Life Saving National Aquatics Symposium

The Royal Life Saving National Aquatics Symposium, being convened in Melbourne on 9th and 10th March, promises to be an essential event for all those involved in aquatic industry leadership, swimming and water safety policy design, aquatic centre and leisure planning or sport and recreation infrastructure policy.

The Symposium will be bring together some of the most innovative and forward-thinking industry leaders, policy makers, and aquatic facility planners and designers from across Australia

A focus of the Symposium will be on showcasing leading practices, identifying areas for improvement, and co-designing a strategic statement of intent.

The stakes are high: with 10 million swimming lessons missed during the pandemic, $8 billion dollars needed for swimming pool infrastructure and crippling workforce challenges; strategic policy and business practices and a fit-for-purpose workforce and infrastructure are more important than ever, not just for the sustainability of the industry, but for the wellbeing of the Australian population and for drowning prevention.

But even as the importance of aquatic facilities, their workforce and their programs have become increasingly clear, so too have the challenges they face.

From rising energy and constructions costs, insufficient capacity to meet demand, aging infrastructure and changing public expectations, there are a range of issues that must be addressed in order to ensure that the national aquatics industry remains sustainable, resilient, and effective.

That's where the Royal Life Saving National Aquatics Symposium comes in. By bringing together experts and leaders from across the industry, this symposium will offer a unique opportunity to share insights, learn from best practices, and co-create solutions that can drive the industry and its impact on wellbeing and drowning prevention forward.

With a focus on co-designing a strategic statement of intent, attendees will have the chance to collaborate on a shared vision for the future. This will help to align efforts and ensure that everyone involved is working towards the same goals, from policymakers to designers to operators.

Whether you're a seasoned industry veteran or a newcomer to the field, the Royal Life Saving National Aquatics Symposium is an event you won't want to miss.

With its focus on collaboration, diversity, and social impact, this symposium promises to be a crucial step forward for the entire national aquatics industry, but places are limited. So, don’t delay, register now, there are only a handful of spots left.

Architects, academics, swim teachers, facility managers, peak body and government experts have the opportunity to speak and be heard about the emerging issues which will define the way we ensure everyone in our community can access swimming and water safety and quality aquatic facilities staffed by world class staff– wherever they live in Australia.

The numbers of participants is capped so all the perspectives on making access fair, equitable and safe are valued and heard in the discussion.

Registrations close Friday 3rd March at 5pm.
