St Kilda Football Club announce that Belgravia Leisure will manage its Danny Frawley Centre

St Kilda Football Club has revealed a partnership with Belgravia Leisure that will see the facility manager take on responsibility for the soon-to-be-opened Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing (DFC).

Announcing today that the Melbourne-based company will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the centre’s gym, pool and physical rehabilitation facilities, St Kilda Chief Executive, Matt Finnis advised “we’re excited to welcome Belgravia Leisure on board as we take another significant step towards opening the Danny Frawley Centre.

"Going into this venture we knew that to be able to provide the best service to everyone who walks through the doors of the centre, it’s important that we appointed an operations and management body with a wealth of experience in this space.

“We look forward to working closely with Belgravia Leisure as we establish the Danny Frawley Centre as a destination facility for the community’s physical and mental health needs.”

"This is really about cementing Spud’s legacy"

Belgravia Leisure Chief Executive, Nick Cox added “the DFC is an Australian first. It moves past the traditional model of a ‘fitness facility’ to a vital piece of infrastructure totally focused on enabling health and wellbeing in the community.

“In addition to its world-class gym, hydrotherapy, aquatic and fitness recovery facilities, the Centre’s mindfulness room, wellness programs, dedicated mental health facilities, and use of technology to address local health inequality issues represents the future ‘mix’ of leisure centre amenities in this country.

“Belgravia manages - in partnership with local government and communities - hundreds of leisure centres and holistic health-orientated, technology enabled programs across Australia and New Zealand. These include our Swimming Australia endorsed water safety programs and swimming squads, academies and clubs.

“We plan to use this depth of ‘good health’ experience and industry leading expertise to make exercise a habitual and rewarding part of peoples’ lives as well as support peoples’ self-esteem and physical and emotional resilience during this unprecedented time.”

The Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing is scheduled to open to the public in the first week of March.

The tender to manage the facility was advertised on the Australasian Leisure Management Tenders page.
