Belgravia Leisure takes on management of Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre
The troubled Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre has reopened to the public with facility manager Belgravia Leisure taking on its management.
Closed since the end of July last year following the liquidation of former operator Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre Ltd, the thermal springs-based aquatic facility was reopened and relaunched on 22nd January.
Commenting on the reopening, Belgravia Leisure’s Area Manager, Amanda Lenton stated “the team and I are feeling extremely grateful to be a part of the amazing team that has made this reopening happen for the local community.
“The atmosphere at the venue over the (the first) weekend (of its opening) was incredible as people returned to this iconic venue.”
Welcoming the reopening, Moree Plains Shire Mayor, Mark Johnson stated “the community will be able to once again take advantage of the MAAC (Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre) and be able to enjoy a soak in the famous artesian waters. Although the MAAC will be functioning again it will be without all facilities functioning.”
Liquidator Clout Advisory ceased its occupancy mode of the facility as of 7pm on Wednesday 19th January.
The re-opening of the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre was identified as the number one concern of local residents in the lead up to last December’s local government elections.
The concern was identified in a poll conducted by local newspaper the Moree Champion.
