Counting down to 2023 edition of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

The organisers of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson are currently preparing for the 14th edition of the global event - due to be held on Thursday 22nd June.

Aquatic facilities of all types from around the world are invited be part of the drowning prevention event by being host for the impactful and fun lifesaving activities.

The 30-minute swim lesson can take place any time of day during the 24-hour event on 22nd June, with locations with regular lessons taking place encouraged to host the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) throughout the day.

With the support of thousands of locations around the globe, WLSL has helped raise awareness and provided crucial education about water safety and water competency since the program launched in 2010.

WLSL organisers the World Waterpark Association (WWA) cites that globally, drowning is among the leading cause of unintended death for children aged under four years - ahead of car accidents, birth defects and cancer - and claims significant numbers of lives throughout childhood and youth.

Local WLSL host locations make a difference by providing children, parents and caregivers exposure to lifesaving water safety skills while building buzz and awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim and providing undistracted adult supervision to help prevent drowning.

Since its inception, more than 350,000 children and adults have participated in lifesaving WLSL lessons, generating more than two billion media impressions about the vital importance of learning to swim.

WWA has also advised that its 2023 Symposium and Trade Show will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA from 24th to 27th October.
