Swim schools across the nation to offer free swimming lessons during Learn2Swim

The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has partnered with Learn2Swim week 2022 to offer a free swimming lesson across up to 150 of its swim schools across the country.

The link will see participating ASSA-members swim schools offer a free swimming to children under five between 23rd September and 1st October.

With drowning the largest cause of accidental death in children under five, and 50% of these drownings occurring in swimming pools.

Learn2Swim week aims to give every child in Australia aged under five the opportunity to learn to swim.

Explaining the Association’s link with the initiative, ASSA Managing Director, Emily McNeill advised "ASSA is proud to be playing a role in ensuring every child across Australia has access to crucial water safety education.

"Drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children under five and that desperately needs to change.

“Learn2Swim Week removes the financial barrier to accessing simple but important water safety skills which may help save a life.”

The swim safety reminder comes as ASSA gears up to launch its annual Countdown To Summer swim safety campaign targeted at helping swim schools educate parents in preventing drownings and non-fatal drownings at home.
