World Gym Australia launches new Granville club as first of a series of openings
World Gym Australia has opened its 45th club in Australia, in the Sydney suburb of Granville.
The largest gym in the area, 1,300 metre² facility, which features the latest equipment from Hammer Strength and Matrix, has been welcomed by Kelly Lewis, World Gym Australia's Head of Franchise Operations, who advised "this location is mind blowing.
"Thank you to all trades and suppliers to help get this amazing location open."
The opening marks a period of expansion for the franchise with World Gym Australia founding Director, Jon Davie stating on social media that the group is approaching a "big six months ahead" with eight new clubs coming.
In November last year World Gym Australia partners Davie and Mike Nysten joined with fitness innovator Leon McNiece to expand the brand across Australia and New Zealand. The partnership saw McNiece purchase an equal shareholding of the World Gym Australia master franchise.
McNiece, the founder of Goodlife Health Clubs Australia and Snap Fitness Australia/NZ, is the current owner of Total Fusion Health and Wellness clubs.
Purchasing an equal shareholding of the World Gym Australia master franchise, will position WGA as the largest big box chain in Australia.
The move saw World Gym Australia Chief Executive Roger Westerman once again teaming up with McNiece after their successful business partnership in establishing and growing Goodlife Health Clubs into one of Australia’s most prominent fitness brands in the 2000s.
Since being appointed in 2022, Westerman has established a World Gym Australia corporate office and setup the team, structure and processes to support the growth and profitability of the brand.
