Surprise departure of Jennifer Schembri-Portelli from AUSTSWIM Chief Executive role
National swim teaching and water safety organisation AUSTSWIM has begun the process of recruitment of a new Chief Executive after the surprise departure of current postholder Jennifer Schembri-Portelli at the end of March.
While AUSTSWIM did not advise why Schembri-Portelli, widely known as ‘JSP’, had left the role, Australasian Leisure Management understands her departure is related to personal reasons.
Acknowledging Schembri-Portelli’s achievements since joining AUSTSWIM in 2015, Chairman John Rigby issued a statement advising “on behalf of the Board, I wish to advise that Jennifer Schembri-Portelli (JSP) will be finishing in the role of CEO of AUSTSWIM today, Thursday 29th March.
“We want to thank JSP for her passion and efforts in leading AUSTSWIM for the past 2½ years.
“JSP has shown us all how important water safety and education has been and brought a new and different energy to the organisation.
“JSP leaves AUSTSWIM in good shape for the future in delivering worlds best practice teaching, accreditation and licensing of Teachers of Swimming and Water Safety under ISO 17024.
“Please join us in celebrating JSP’s efforts and her achievements.”
AUSTSWIM has commenced the process of recruiting Schembri-Portelli’s successor.
