Perth’s RAC Arena marks 10 years of operations
Perth’s RAC Arena has celebrated its 10-year anniversary at a event for its stakeholders while also announcing a range of upcoming major sport and entertainment events.
Owned by VenuesWest and managed by ASM Global, the venue has welcomed over six million patrons at 724 events in the venue’s first decade, including 228 concerts, 168 shows and 328 sporting events.
During the decade the venue has hosted some of the world’s biggest artists including Ed Sheeran, Bruce Springsteen, Kiss, Neil Diamond, Pink, Robbie Williams, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Sir Elton John, Michael Buble, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Phil Collins, Hugh Jackman, Billie Eilish, Midnight Oil and The Wiggles along with the annual Hopman Cup as well being the new home of Telethon and the Family Fun Festival.
A month-long celebration for fans is underway that will include a curated exhibition of 20 iconic event photos open until the end of the year.
Commenting on the achievements of the venue, Western Australia Sport and Recreation Minister, David Templeman commented “RAC Arena is a true-blue Western Australian icon, putting Perth firmly on the map as a world class sport and entertainment destination.
“Live events create lasting memories, and RAC Arena has created countless magical experiences for the people of Western Australia.
“RAC Arena is renowned globally as a world class venue for its size and attracts thousands of interstate and international visitors every year.”
This week has also seen venue host Dua Lipa in the last show of her current tour and announce that it will also be hosting a UFC Championship bout on Sunday 12th February 2023.
The clash will see Australia’s UFC featherweight champion and No.1 Men’s Pound-for Pound, Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski take on newly crowned UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, in a five round bout.
