RAC Arena’s Michael Scott inducted into the Australian Hotels Association’s (WA) Hall of Fame
Michael Scott, General Manager of Perth's RAC Arena has been inducted into the Australian Hotels Association’s (WA) Hall of Fame at the state's Accommodation Industry Awards.
Presented on Monday evening in Perth, Scott was presented with his award by Western Australian Minister for Tourism, Culture and the Arts, David Templeman and the AHA’s Accommodation Division President, Andrew Cairns with Western Australian Premier, Mark McGowan in attendance.
In presenting the Award, Scott was acknowledged by the AHA’s Cairns as follows:
“It is my honour to announce the 2021 Accommodation Industry Hall of Fame inductee.
“Tonight’s inductee has given a life of service to hospitality and has made a lasting impact on our beloved industry.
“Given his impressive resume it would be safe to say that most Western Australians have enjoyed at least one occasion where this person has played an instrumental role in making the event possible.
“Over the past 30 years he has held key management roles in or servicing venues across WA, including Perth’s Sheraton Hotel, the Esplanade in Fremantle, Government House Ballroom, His Majesty's Theatre, Perth Concert Hall and Perth Airport.
“He has coordinated some of WA’s headline events such as the Diggers & Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie, Leeuwin Estate concerts and PGA Golf Tournaments.
“During his time at ASM Global, Spotless, Greyhounds WA and Australian Airlines, our inductee generated an extraordinary reputation as a consummate professional and true gentleman.
“He is a pragmatic and consultative leader, a champion of the next generation and a fierce advocate for Western Australia. He has therefore earned the respect of our entire industry and the broader community.
“Our inductee has led a wonderful team during the most difficult time in the industry’s history and he has placed one of WA’s most important entertainment venues in an excellent position to rebound strongly when borders reopen.
“He is humble, genuine and his cleverness is only outdone by his warmth.
“A great friend to the AHA and to Western Australia, I am delighted to announce that the 2021 Hall of Fame inductee is the General Manager of RAC Arena, Mr Michael Scott.”
Tim Worton CVE, Group Director, Arenas for RAC Arena managers ASM Global added “apart from his phenomenal career, Mike is one of the most humble, generous and unassuming people I’ve ever known - a wonderful human, and the world would be a better place with more Mike Scotts in it.”
