Two years of achievement at the Perth Arena

Currently hosting the Hopman Cup tennis tournament, the Perth Arena celebrated its second anniversary back in November.

Instantly recognisable on the international stage, Perth Arena is designed to excite and engage patrons from the moment they step inside. With its bold, imaginative, unique and unmistakable design, Perth Arena is one of the most complex steel building constructions in Australia.

In the two years following its opening on 10th November 2012, Perth Arena held 177 major events and more than 1.6 million people have visited the venue.

Since Sir Elton John’s gala opening in November 2012, Perth Arena has seen some of the world’s biggest artists take to the stage, including Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, P!NK, The Rolling Stones, Beyonce and Katy Perry.

The venue is also home of the Perth Wildcats.

Prior to his departure from the Western Australian Government late last year, then Western Australian Minister for Sport and Recreation Terry Waldron explained that the Perth Arena has led the way for artist and fan experiences and has triumphed on the world stage.

Minister Waldron stated “Western Australians are tremendously proud of Perth Arena as it continues to be ranked in the top venues throughout the world.”

In 2013, Perth Arena received a Pollstar ranking of #22 in the World’s Top 200 Venues for Music and Entertainment Ticket Sales, ranking the arena ahead of New York’s Madison Square Garden (23) and London’s Wembley Arena (30).

In 2014, the venue went further being ranked as the world’s top venue in its category (10,000-15,000 capacity) by Billboard for 2014 based on total box office gross for concerts.

Beyond the Hopman Cup (pictured below), 2015 will also see the Perth Arena will also host the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, The Eagles, Kylie, Ed Sheeran and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Perth Arena is managed by AEG Ogden.
