Hopman Cup organisers hopeful of securing 2015 naming rights sponsorship
The organisers of Perth’s Hopman Cup tennis tournament are still hopeful of securing a naming rights sponsor for the event in 2015 and beyond.
While Hyundai’s ending of its 26-year partnership with the unique mixed teams event earlier this year was a major blow to the tournament, Emirates Airline's recently announced sponsorship of tennis in Australia has secured its immediate future.
Emirate’s five-year partnership will see Australia’s elite summer tennis series rebranded as the Emirates Australian Open Series – but leaves naming right for individual events open.
Commenting on Emirates’ backing for tennis, Hopman Cup Tournament Director Paul Kilderry recently explained “it's great to have Emirates on board.”
Stating that organisers were still “in discussions” to secure fresh sponsorship, Kilderry added “we're working with other companies, and hopefully we'll have some more announcements coming up before the event.
“We're really excited for this year's event. We've got a great field. I think it will be our most successful event both on and off the court.
"We're still in discussions (with possible naming rights sponsors), but things are tracking along very well.
Emirates Airline will partner all five marquee tennis events held ahead of the Australian Open: the Hopman Cup, Brisbane International, Apia International Sydney, Hobart International and the World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide.
Perth’s annual round-robin tennis competition will be held between 4th and 10th January 2015 at the Perth Arena.
