Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness installation marks arrival of PLAE sport floor options
The installation of innovative sport and fitness flooring technology in the new David Mortimer High Performance Training Centre at the University of Sydney Camperdown’s campus is the first major Australian for PLAE.
Located in the new Grandstand at the University Oval No. 2, the installation for Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness showcases PLAE’s premier products Achieve (the world's most innovative rubber sports flooring system) and Attack (a highly durable and wear-resistant floor).
Born out of desire to design functional weight rooms for athletic development, PLAE uses the best materials available to create premier athletic flooring, with professional rugby, basketball, football, and track and field athletes training on PLAE’s innovative surfaces, as well as numerous sporting schools and Fortune 100 companies.
PLAE’s patented fusion process gives PLAE products an unmatched level of durability and reliability that the competition can only dream about.
Based in the USA, PLAE has partnered with brands such as Under Armour, EXOS, IMG, Facebook and Google delivering products that include custom logos, inlaid platforms and synthetic turf with line markings water-jet cut with precision.
PLAE provides customers with solutions including facility design, product specification and recommendation and installation by PLAE’s preferred installers.
Over the last few years PLAE has seen substantial growth on the world stage. Projects have been completed in the UK, Germany, Spain, Middle East, China, Thailand and most recently in Australia.
Shane Gooneratne Director of International Sales for PLAE explains “the fitness industry has seen so much change over the past years, particularly in strength training.
“As such the design and construction of facilities has changed, particularly the flooring. PLAE is the complete end to end solution.
“We are here to design, specify and install the best athletic training surfaces available. Being direct in Australia further allows our team to control and recommend the best solution from the outset for our customers.”
Commenting on the installation at the David Mortimer High Performance Training Centre, Ed Smith Operations and Infrastructure Manager for Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness commented “PLAE is the best sports performance flooring we have used.
“Operationally speaking, its low profile and high density are ideal for our new high performance gym and PLAE’s service has been superb.
“Functionally, the versatility of the PLAE flooring has allowed us to adapt and vary our programming and our athletes and coaches have greatly enjoyed the reduced impact on their joints that the surface provides.
“We’re extremely thankful for PLAE’s support and service. We expect that they will be valuable partner in the years to come.”
