Expanded Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre set for August reopening
After nearly 18 months of construction, the will be holding an Open Day to celebrate its expansion on Saturday 17th August.
At the heart of the $15 million expansion project is a multi-function sports hall/arena that will accommodate badminton, indoor football/futsal, netball and basketball. With a permanent grandstand and broadcast facilities, the arean will become the home court for the Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames Womens National Backetball League (WNBL).
Other features of the expanded facility include:
• New modern fitness equipment in larger cardio, weights and stretching rooms;
• Approximately 70 new state-of-the-art cardio equipment pieces across the Sports & Aquatic Centre and The Arena Sports Centre;
• A new larger group fitness studio (up to 70 attendees in a class) holding over 65 group fitness classes per week;
• A new-look RPM studio renovated and fitted with brand new spin bikes;
• A new martial arts dojo;
• A new boxing room;
• 50 metre heated indoor swimming pool;
• Six synthetic grass tennis courts;
• Three squash courts;
• Health assessments;
• Fitness testing;
• Personal training;
• First Aid and CPR classes;
• School holiday camps for children aged five to 15 years;
• An extensive range of fun and challenging short courses.
