Perth’s RAC Arena secures United Cup international tennis tournament for third consecutive summer
Perth’s RAC Arena has secured the United Cup international tennis tournament for a third consecutive summer from 27th December 2024 to 1st January 2025, attracting some of the world's top-ranked players.
Athletes will travel to Western Australia to compete in the event at RAC Arena, where they will battle for a minimum of $15 million in prize money and 500 PIF Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking points.
18 countries represented by up to three men and three women will compete in singles and mixed doubles teams in the highly competitive team tennis tournament, with Perth to open the tournament on Friday, 27th December.
Two quarterfinal matches will be held in Perth on New Year's Day, with the remaining quarterfinals, semifinals and final to take place in Sydney from 2nd-5th January.
Adding vibrancy to the Perth event will also be a multicultural festival, which will take place at The Plaza at RAC Arena in celebration of the countries competing in the United Cup 2025, and will include roving entertainment, cultural performances, face painting, DJs and multicultural food offerings.
The United Cup has proven to be a hit in Perth, attracting out-of-state visitors to see some of the world's best players and injecting millions of dollars into the WA economy across 2023 and 2024.
Last year's event saw top players including Serbia's Novak Djokovic, Poland's Iga Swiatek as well as Team Australia take to the court at RAC Arena.
WA Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman shared "We know how passionate Australians are about their tennis, and we're very excited to announce Perth, Western Australia will be hosting the United Cup for another year.
"The past two United Cup events have brought thousands of passionate tennis fans to RAC Arena to witness elite tennis on display, as their favourite international players battled it out for the United Cup - and no doubt they will be back for more again this year."
The official draw for the countries that will be represented and who will play within each group will be held later this year.
Tickets for the United Cup quarterfinals in Perth go on sale at 12pm AWST Friday, 6 September via Ticketek, with tickets to the group stage in Perth going on sale in late October.
