Karen Bolinger takes on interim role at Destination Gold Coast

Experienced tourism and events executive Karen Bolinger has been appointed interim Chief Executive at Destination Gold Coast following the departure of Patricia O’Callaghan in November.

Commenting on her new role, Bolinger, who was Chief Executive of the Melbourne Convention Bureau from 2011 to 2019 before founding her own consultancy, and who is a Past President of the Association of Australian Convention, wrote on LinkedIn “I’m back at Destination Gold Coast as interim CEO while they recruit for the new one

“Working with a group of passionate tourism professionals in Australia’s favourite playground. Excited to be back and continuing on the good work the team has been doing … looking forward to developing some good strategy and building towards a bright future.”

O’Callaghan left the position to take on a new role as Chief Executive of Tourism and Events Queensland.
