Industry conferences cancelled, postponed and rescheduled

While Australasian Leisure Management likes to report on upcoming industry events, the current Coronavirus crisis instead means we are having to cover conferences, exhibitions, seminars and symposiums being cancelled, postponed and rescheduled.

In addition to events that we have already reported on, including IHRSA 2020 (due to take place in San Diego, USA this week and which was cancelled at short notice last weekend), we have already advised on the cancellation of the Arnold Sports Festival Australia in Melbourne, the Asia-Pacific Venue Industry Congress on the Gold Coast, the IAAPA Asian Expo in Macau and SportAccord, which was first to have been held in Beijing and then the Swiss city of Lausanne.

In addition, the Fitness Show Sydney and FILEX and the World Fitness Summit in Singapore, have been postponed, with new dates to be announced in due course.

AALARA 2020 Conference
The Board of Directors of the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) have cancelled the 2020 conference, rescheduling the event to take place at the Sea World Resort Conference Centre from 17th to 19th May 2021.

Aquatic and Recreation Institute NSW 2020 Conference
The ARI advise that it has made “the difficult decision to cancel” its 2020 Conference due to have been held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley from 14th to 16th June.

Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV)
ARV has advised that its 2020 Regional Conference and Life Members luncheon have been postponed and will be rescheduled to a further date to be advised.

The ARV is also planning to run a COVID-19 member workshop.

Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE)
Tourism Australia has confirmed that it is cancelling its flagship trade event showcase, the ATE, due to take place in Melbourne in May.

Business of Sport Summit 2020
Due to have been held next month, this year’s Business of Sport Summit will now be taking place on the 1st and 2nd September 2020 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Money In Sport
Tribal Sports Group's Money In Sport conference is moving from its original dates of 30th April and 1st May 2020 to 8th and 9th September.

The event venue will remain unchanged, Brisbane's W Hotel.

National Sports Convention 
The National Sports Convention (NSC) will no longer be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13th to 15th July, but, as the organisers advise "(NSC will be) re-scheduled to early November 2020."

Recreation Aotearoa - Green Pavlova Conference
Recreation Aotearoa's Green Pavlova Conference has been rescheduled from May this year to May 2021.
