VMA cancels 2020 Venue Industry Congress
The Venue Management Association (VMA) has advised that its 2020 Asia Pacific Venue Industry Congress, scheduled to commence on 17th May 2020, has been cancelled.
In a communication to members, VMA President, Steve Harper advised “in reaching this decision the health and safety of our members and participants was paramount.
“We have recognised the capacity for many of our delegates, sponsors, trade and speakers to attend has been impacted and as the Australian Government has now given our industry clear direction on mass gatherings it is important that the VMA Board be decisive in communicating our decision on this very important annual industry event.
“As your Venue Management Association, your Board will be working to adapt to this challenge and deliver ongoing opportunities for member engagement and professional development, while continuing to keep the industry informed with timely and relevant information as best we can during this unprecedented period.
“We also know that one of the greatest strengths of our Association is the support, camaraderie and friendship that underpins our membership base. I encourage all Members to continue to assist one another personally and professionally in support of our wonderful industry.
“Rest assured, full refunds will be made for all delegate registration fees to date and our management team will be liaising closely with all sponsors and exhibitors.”
The Congress was to have been held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from 17th to 20th May.
