Gymnastics Australia makes Chief Operating Officer appointment

Gymnastics Australia has confirmed the appointment of Tom Humphries to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Described as “a key leader at Gymnastics Australia for the past three years” and having served as acting Chief Operating Officer for nearly two years, Gymnastics Australia advise that “in that time, he has been a steady hand, providing consistent support to the Board, CEO, and staff during a significant period of change.

“Known for being selfless, always putting the organisation, our people, and our members first, Tom combines a considered approach with his business acumen and analytical thinking to deliver positive outcomes for the gymnastics community.”

As a senior executive, Humphries will have oversight of Gymnastics Australia’s Corporate Services and Membership Services functions, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on member value and experience.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Alistair Edgar and the Gymnastics Australia Board, Humphries is expected to play a significant role in operationalising the body’s strategy, translating high-level priorities into effective, day-to-day execution that enables the sport to achieve its objectives and strengthen the sport nationwide.

Announcing the appointment, Edgar advised “Tom’s care and consideration for our members shines through in his leadership. His willingness to listen, learn, and respond to what our community needs will continue to strengthen the way we serve our members and the sport."

Before joining Gymnastics Australia, Humphries served as Head of Participation at Netball Australia and held a global role with the International Cricket Council.

Welcoming his appointment, Humphries advised "I’ve really enjoyed working alongside the gymnastics community over the past three years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve as we drive our strategy forward together."
