Gymnastics Clubs Australia announces USA leader as National Congress keynote speaker

Gymnastics Clubs Australia (GCA) has advised that Katy Heddens, founder and owner of Black Diamond Gymnastics and Sports Center in US state of Utah, will be its principal keynote speaker at its upcoming 2024 National Congress.

Founded in 1999, Black Diamond has three locations in the state of Utah, providing year-round sports enrichment and academic programs and is powered by a team of more than 80 people.

Heddens (pictured) holds a BSc in Health and Physical Education with emphasis in child development and adaptive physical education and has completed post-graduate work in sports psychology and academic administration at the University of Virginia.

Welcoming Heddens’ involvement, GCA Chief Executive, Ross Gage stated "Katy is a gun influencer in the American children's activities providers scene; and will be delivering the keynotes, speaking in the Emerging Leaders stream, and hosting a Round Table discussion - all with lots of immediately appliable takeaways."

"Katy's topics will include ‘Grow tomorrow's leaders and teach your current leaders to take more responsibility’, ‘The power of a playbook: systemise all that you do’, ‘Your role in maintaining an unstoppable culture’ and ‘Making competitions profitable’.

Heddens is also a nationally ranked women’s artistic judge and a member of the USA Gymnastics education staff - teaching the Risk Management and W200 course for the organisation.

She speaks on a variety of topics for youth sports and educational organizations throughout the USA, Canada and Australia, is the recipient of the 2022 Everest Award for exemplary contributions to the industry and is a board member of the International Association of Children’s Development Programs (IACDP).

The GCA National Congress 2024 is being held in Victoria's Yarra Valley on 22nd and 23rd July.
