National Gymnastics Clubs Carnival underway at Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre
The 9th edition of the National Gymnastics Clubs Carnival is currently underway at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, and is set to attract more than 4000 gymnastics participants, officials, staff, and supporters over the next three weeks.
As the largest gymnastics participation event in Australia, clubs from across Australia will participate in a full programme that will see over 129 sessions of seven forms of gymnastics on display including the Olympic disciplines of Men’s and Women's Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline, as well Aerobic and Acrobatic gymnastics and the non-competitive Gymnastics for All
Gymnastics Australia Chief Executive Alexandra Ash enthused “This event really embodies the broad appeal and popularity of the sport with many clubs coming back to compete year on year. It really is one of the most exciting events on our calendar.
“The sense of community that is fostered by all the incredible participants really emphasises how unique and supportive the gymnastics community is.
“I would like to acknowledge the support we receive from Tourism and Events Queensland and Major Events Gold Coast which enables us to host this event in this beautiful location which we have been lucky to call home now for four years,” said Alexandra.
This year, the event will also take gymnastics to the streets, with an outdoor performance taking place on the Gold Coast foreshore on 23rd September, seeing some of the most passionate community members wowing the crowd with their skills.
