Dubai Sports World 2013 celebrates a summer of sport

The largest indoor summer sporting event in the Middle East, Dubai Sports World (DSW), is currently presenting a wide range of sport, recreation and fitness activities during a two-month period from 21st June to 21st August.

Operating for the third successive year, DSW is spread over 28,000 metres2 of space in the Shaikh Saeed Halls at the Trade Centre Arena, Dubai World Trade Centre.

Open from 8am to midnight, and until 3am during Ramadan, DSW offers football, basketball, tennis, rugby, volleyball, skateboarding, futsal, squash, badminton, table tennis, cycling, fitness classes and group fitness programs as well as a skate and BMX park.

Dubai Sports Council Secretary General Ahmad Al Sharif explains "Dubai Sports World is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar in the UAE. Each year attendance increases, demonstrating a keen willingness amongst residents and tourists to adopt a healthier lifestyle."

Programs and events at DSW are delivered by established academies and under the guidance of skilled coaches and trainers. Organisations involved with DSW include Duplays, Active Sports, Tennis 360, Original Fitness, IFA Sport, Rage Skate Park, Ping Pong Dubai, Football Centre, G Force Cricket, Dubai Badminton School, Adventure HQ and Ride Bike Shop.

Commenting on DSW's partnerships with leading sport academies, Dubai World Trade Centre Vice President – Venues Ahmed Alkhaja explains "Dubai Sports World is designed to keep residents and tourists active during the hot summer months.

"In order to ensure Dubai Sports World caters to individuals of all ages, interests and sporting ability, we have once again partnered with organisations that bring people together in a dynamic, active and friendly environment, led by some of the best trainers in the city."

Sam Whittam, General Manager of Adventure HQ, who set up the BMX park, explains "we are giving youngsters an opportunity to enjoy the adventure sports.

"It challenges them and I think they love doing something they have never done before."

Tennis360 have introduced the cardio tennis and Sergio Gaoni, senior coach, said that this was a great opportunity for youngsters to get fitter and enjoy tennis at a faster pace, stating "its lot faster and very active and a great opportunity for kids to stay fit."

Recognised as one of the UAE's leading fitness companies, the Original Fitness Co is offering boot camp sessions, yoga, and personal training, catering to all fitness levels during DSW.

Original Fitness have also set-up a functional gym that includes free weight and group fitness classes.

Living by the motto "Ingrain health into their lives", Original Fitness Co founder and Chief Executive Corey Oliver "Original Fitness Co. is excited to be back at Dubai Sports World once again.

Keeping the summer competitive, DWTC also hosted the popular Dubai Indoor Football Championship from 2nd to 6th July, with leading European and regional teams competing.
