Steve Irwin Day to honour legacy of Australia's wildlife warrior
Australia Zoo is to celebrate the life and legacy of Steve Irwin on Saturday 15th November, with the staging of the annual Steve Irwin Day.
Held in honour of the original Crocodile Hunter, the day celebrates what Irwin stood for: family, wildlife conservation, adventure and fun.
The day's events will Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin lead a series of special events with special guests, internationally renowned psychic medium John Edwards in the Crocoseum at 11am, followed by a performance by YouTube sensation and American Idol contestant Von Smith.
A statement from Australia Zoo explains "it was Steve’s dream to create a place where people could watch his beloved crocs in action and learn to truly appreciate them, so it wouldn’t be Steve Irwin Day without some serious Crocoseum action!
"Terri, Bindi and Robert will feed our amazing saltwater crocs in the world-famous Crocoseum, immediately after our incredible Wildlife Warriors free-flight bird show at noon.
"Guests attending the celebration are encouraged to dress head-to-toe in khaki to receive 10% off entry at the gate.
"Not only is this a great saving, but you will be making a powerful statement – and Steve would have been proud, because at Australia Zoo ... khaki is not just a colour – it’s an attitude, towards making the world a better place by reducing our environmental footprint.
"Having inspired millions around the world to play a part in conserving our wildlife and wild places, Steve’s legacy lives on through Australia Zoo, Wildlife Warriors and his passionate and dedicated family."
