Sunshine Coast attractions set for Australia Day fun
Sunshine Coast attractions Australia Zoo and Aussie World/the Ettamogah Pub are looking forward to presenting a day of celebration events on Australia Day - Sunday 26th January.
At the Ettamogah Pub the day starts at 10am with a patriotic Australian flag raising ceremony followed by the singing of the national anthem.
The action and frivolity then gets underway with the Dunny Race Championships a hotly contested event local teams with teams competing for a toilet seat trophy that declares them Dunny Race Champions of the World.
Thereafter there will be a Tug of War contest at 11am while, inside the Ettamogah there will be great raffles and prizes to be won, live music and Bluey's Bar & Grill is open for lunch and dinner.
The day will also feature a display of vintage cars, caravans, utes and bikes from the veteran era (pre 1920) through to the classics of the 50s to the 70s.
Aussie World will also feature plenty of Australia Day activities with over 30 rides and games as well as childrens' events including thong throwing, hula hooping, chuck the ball, hat throwing, Redback spider throwing, and watermelon eating.
Meanwhile, in the Sunshine Coast's Glass House Mountains, Australia Zoo will host a jam-packed day of celebrations including a live crocodile feeding session featuring Robert, Terri and Bindi Irwin, and more Aussie activities and prizes than you can poke a stick at!
Joined by the Queensland Police Service 'Band of Blue', visitors can enjoy all their favourite Australian hits prior to the slithering, swooping and jaw-dropping action of the world-famous Crocoseum show.
The day will also include free Pavlova decorating (and eating) while damper and billy tea will be available for guests as make their way through the zoo.
Guests can also purchase an extra special encounter with an array of Australia Zoo animals including its adorable Sumatran tiger cubs and a komodo dragon.
