Berri swimming pool to stay closed until December

The Hayden Stoeckel Swimming Pool in the South Australian country town of Berri is to stay closed until December as a result of delays in upgrade works.

A $450,000 project to upgrade of the pool was expected to be completed by mid-November but the Berri Barmera Council says bad weather has delayed the project by several weeks.

Works at the former Berri District Swimming Pool (renamed in honour of local swimming champion Hayden Stoeckel) are addressing a range of ongoing problems and include a new wet deck around the pool and a refurbishment of the system's balance tank.

Commenting on the work, Berri Barmera Council Environmental Services Manager Gary Brinkworth told the ABC “overall the pool is in good structure and Council has seen the value in refurbishing the pool to further extend the useful life of the pool."

The Hayden Stoeckel Swimming Pool is managed by CASA Leisure.
