WNBL spotlights November 2022 activities

WNBL have spotlighted some of their activities for November 2022 from supporting important causes to attracting new partners and improving their  broadcasting.

WNBL rolled out Australia’s first ever ‘Fighting Period Poverty Round’. As a women’s league, they wanted to get behind this important cause and support fellow Australian women and girls. They believe access to period products is a right, not a privilege, and that no person should ever go without these essentials. Throughout round 4 they are:

  • Facilitating a donation appeal with goal of raising $25,000 for the installation of a Dignity Vending Machine.

  • Using their platform to spread awareness about the period poverty crisis in Australia.

  • Selling a special ‘Fighting Period Poverty’ t-shirt that players are wearing during warmups, with all proceeds contributing to the donation appeal.

  • Providing period product donation boxes at all games during Round 4.

Two new partners
WNBL announced a partnership with Australian brands Sportscraft and Mathers to dress the league’s commentary team for the 2022-23 season.

The WNBL Show
The WNBL is now well underway, hosted by Megan Hustwaite, co-hosted by WNBL athletes, plus a special guest or two each episode. You can get insights on the round that was, what the round ahead looks like, and some additional news and content. You can watch The WNBL Show on their YouTube channel, or listen to it via any of your regular podcast channels. https://www.youtube.com/user/wnbl

Broadcast
WNBL recognise that the WNBL broadcast hasn’t been at an acceptable standard, and have been working with our production partner, JAM TV, to rectify this. From Round 5 (next week) there will be a change in delivery. The outcomes of this change will include but not be limited to an improvement in transmission signal, picture and audio quality, consistency in graphics and stats packages across all games (including shot clock), and centralised commentary. As a world-class league, with world-class athletes, WNBL look forward to presenting the WNBL in the quality it deserves to be seen in.
