Box Hill's first sport fields now open

The Hills Shire Council, located in Sydney's north west has advised on the opening of Box Hill’s first sports fields at Brindle Parkway Reserve on 15th June 2024.

Brindle Parkway Reserve features two rectangular fields which can be reconfigured into one cricket oval. Alongside the playing fields, the sporting complex also features a half-court basketball facility, two cricket practice nets, and a playground with picnic facilities.

The reserve also includes onsite parking with 128 spaces, pathways including a walking loop, an amenities building with accessible toilets, change rooms, kiosk, referee room, and storage.

The milestone was marked with a plaque unveiling by the Mayor of The Hills Shire Council Dr Peter Gangemi, alongside the President of the Box Hill Bears Cricket Club Damitha Silva and the President of the Box Hill Buffalos Rugby League Club Darrin Rawlings.

The opening featured an array of community activities along with free sporting activities led by Cricket NSW Sydney Thunder, Box Hill Bears Cricket Club, and Motiv8 Sports.

Mayor of The Hills Shire Council Dr Peter Gangemi said the opening of Brindle Parkway Reserve heralded new opportunities for Box Hill residents to partake in a diverse range of sports and recreational activities.

Mayor Gangemi noted “local sports teams now have a wonderful new home to play within Box Hill. Residents also have an additional place to take the kids to the playground, go for a walk, keep active or have a picnic close to home.

“Brindle Parkway is a fantastic facility and I encourage all of our residents to check out the new reserve. Council will continue to roll out more parks, playgrounds and road upgrades in Box Hill to service our growing community.”
