Belgravia Leisure enhances fitness programs and equipment across Canberra facilities
Belgravia Leisure is enhancing its health and wellness offerings across the aquatic, fitness and recreation facilities it operates in Canberra with revamps and state-of-the-art gear.
The ACT Government centres operated by Belgravia Leisure now offer a “whole new vibe” thanks to gym refurbishment with new equipment and a turf area.
At Stromlo Leisure Centre, Lakeside Leisure Centre, Canberra Olympic Pool and Gungahlin Leisure Centre, a long list of new equipment, informed by member feedback, ranges from Wattbike trainers to ski and row ergs, hack and belt squats machines to a wide range of benches.
Stromlo Leisure Centre assistant venue manager Samer Kamal says the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, commenting "our members were particularly excited for the belt squat, hack squat and Wattbike, which were introduced based on their requests."
Aside from the equipment, Kamal advises that members can expect a whole new floor and a fresh layout, noting "the feedback has been great so far, with members enjoying plenty of diversity, new and upgraded gym equipment, more open space and better movement between gym areas.
“The changes were designed to make spaces more engaging for gym-goers and help with the spread of people during busy periods to avoid crowding of popular machines.
“Members can expect a better flowing layout with separate areas for strength equipment, cardio machines, free weights and group exercise.”
The upgrades are also designed to make the gyms safer for use outside of staffed hours, improving accessibility, with Kamal adding "it makes it much smoother introducing people who aren’t familiar with formal gyms or lack confidence."
Belgravia Leisure manages aquatic, fitness and recreation facilities in the Canberra region: Lakeside Leisure Centre in Greenway, Stromlo Leisure Centre, Canberra Olympic Pool, Dickson Pool and Gungahlin Leisure Centre.
Across its centres, group classes cover the spectrum of fitness preferences including yoga, Pilates, chair fitness, power bar, dance, senior circuits, senior strength, rowing, aquatic cardio, strength and mobility sessions, boxing, sports-inspired workout, running groups, circuit training, aerobics and more, catering for all fitness levels.
Belgravia Leisure ACT Marketing Coordinator Tanay Kandlur says having everything under one roof isn’t just about convenience, it’s about enhancing members’ ability to be consistent in their fitness routine.
He advises "we’ve seen a real shift in how people use leisure centres. They’re no longer just about swimming or group fitness; the gym or, as we call them, health club, has become a central hub for health and well-being.
“At our centres, we’ve invested in larger, state-of-the-art gym spaces because we recognise that our members want full-service facilities under one roof.
“Along with modern equipment, turf and more space, we also provide personal training to support members with expert guidance on their health journey.
“This upgrade was essential to meet growing demand and ensure we’re giving our community the space, tools and support they need to reach their goals.”
