AUSTSWIM launches Presenters in Pools initiative
AUSTSWIM has announced the launch of its new initiative aiming to make a long-term impact on the current teacher shortage around the country.
As the industry leader in swim teacher training, AUSTSWIM is now delivering its Presenters in Pools program - Putting Trainers in pools, an initiative that enables the immediate recruitment and training of swim teachers with the aim to help save lives.
Developed together with swim centres, AUSTSWIM has partnered with the Australian Institute of Management to deliver the TAE40116 - Cert IV in Training and Assessment, with the new trainers to be ready in time for the summer season.
There is a clearly identified need for more swim teachers to be able to provide swimming and water safety lessons to the thousands of children who have missed out over the past couple of years. It is not always possible to find an AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course in the right area on the right day and this opportunity will negate this.
AUSTSWIM has a team of highly experienced Master Trainers who will be providing centres with high-calibre trainers able to teach today, the swim teachers of the future.
The AUSTSWIM Presenters in Pools program enables pool operators to address the shortage and enables you to have trained swim teachers, training in-centre when and where needed with all the administration being taken care of at the AUSTSWIM Head Office.
AUSTSWIM’s Project Manager, Julia Wood explains “our key goals are to strengthen the relationship between AUSTSWIM and pool operators and to place AUSTSWIM Presenter/Trainers at the coalface.
“The recruitment of more swim teachers will not only increase (swim centres’) revenue but at the same time will give the opportunity for many more children to learn to swim and be safer in and around water, thus having an impact on the annual drowning toll.”
AUSTSWIM launches pilot Presenters in Pools program
20 learners from Victoria, NSW and Queensland have started their journey to become an AUSTSWIM Trainer as part of the AUSTSWIM’s Presenters in Pools initiative.
Advising on the program, Wood added “within six months, these learners will have completed their TAE40116 - Cert IV in Training and Assessment together with their AUSTSWIM Trainer course, and if all goes to plan, they will be ready to deliver courses at their centres in 2023.
“One of the biggest deterrents for people wanting to become an AUSTSWIM Trainer is the Cert IV, which is not only costly but also takes a year to complete.”
In this program, training costs are taken care of by the pool operators who are supporting their learners on this journey.
The Cert IV is being delivered by the Australian Institute of Management over a six-month intensive period.
