Extensions announced for NSW AUSTSWIM Teachers

Given the unusual circumstances facing the industry, AUSTSWIM will be granting all NSW AUSTSWIM Teachers whose licence expired from 26th June to, and including 30th November 2021 an extension on their AUSTSWIM Teacher Licence, including insurance, until 31st December 2021.

AUSTSWIM Teachers do not have to do anything to claim this extension, it has automatically been applied, with those affected having received an email confirming their AUSTSWIM Teacher Licence extension.

A statement on the extension, AUSTSWIM advise “please note that for the extension to remain valid the AUSTSWIM Teacher must meet all licensing requirements.

“That is; CPR and Working with Children Check (WWCC) must remain valid and up to date. Our insurance partner, Insurance Made Easy has confirmed that validity in this area is required to ensure that the insurance will be extended in line with the licence.”

Commenting on the last 22 months, AUSTSWIM stated “every year typically has a few defining moments, however, it is hard to believe what 2020 and 2021 had in store for us. From the devastating bushfires that swept across the nation to a deadly virus igniting a global pandemic for the first time since 1918.

“With lockdowns, restrictions, masks, hand sanitiser, and panic buying becoming the norm, the past 18 months has had a profound and extraordinary impact, not just on the aquatic industry, but on the whole community - taking a toll on some of our most diverse and vulnerable communities, mental health and small business, to just name a few.

“As the lessons learned over the past year are put into practice and the vaccination rollout gains momentum, the hope that we can leave the events of the past 18 months behind us only grows. We take comfort in knowing that swimming and water safety plays an integral role in the social, emotional, physical, and mental health of our communities.

“In recognising how difficult this time has been for teachers and swim schools we would like to thank you for the important role you have played in supporting our communities to reconnect. As an industry, together, we are coming out the other end more resilient, resourceful, and connected than ever.”
