Aligned Leisure's Jumpshots a key part of partnership extension with Nillumbik Shire Council
Aligned Leisure has launched a revolutionary form of community sport and recreation facility basketball entertainment by launching Jumpshots at Nillumbik Shire Council’s Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre.
Jumpshots is a basketball-based arcade-style concept comprising full-sized shooting bays located within the popular community facility.
The launch follows on from the recent Nillumbik Shire Council’s endorsement of a four-year contract extension, set to see Aligned Leisure managing this plus the other four Nillumbik Leisure Facilities until at least June 2027.
Featuring a guest lounge, sound and light features Jumpshots has been described as the future of basketball entertainment. It is a destination for basketballers of all levels to elevate their game plus additions to come include birthday parties, celebrations and corporate events.
Advising that Jumpshots was the first of its kind in a community leisure setting, Aligned Leisure Chief Executive, Shane Dunne stated “Jumpshots suits corporate style events for bonding experiences and networking, as well as the kids and games markets.
“Those already playing basketball and looking to improve their game it suits well too, particularly the many Nillumbik locals already using the facility.
“Jumpshots gives them more than the two-minute warmup they are currently getting between games at the local level and is also somewhere they can have a shot, if they were not happy with their game, to get better for the following week.”
Noting that the concept reduced participation barriers for those in local communities, Dunne added “all you need to do is book and turn up, and we can do the rest for you. A fixture does not constrain you; and you don’t need to find a team of five players or wait until 10 pm.
“You can play a game here whenever you want to. We think this will cater to people who want to get involved and participate but are blocked by some of those barriers.”
Nillumbik Shire Council’s Manager of Recreation and Leisure, Rebecca Burton, said the innovative idea provided great excitement for locals.
Burton noted “Nillumbik has some great new basketball courts, and Jumpshots now complements them really well.
“Basketball is a key sport for residents in this Shire, and Jumpshots is another avenue for locals to try basketball or progress their skills.
“We are looking forward to seeing it progress across the school holidays and are thrilled to see our partnership with Aligned Leisure continue to expand.”
