Aligned Leisure appoint Nillumbik Leisure Manager
Highly regarded professional Liam O’Brien has been appointed as Nillumbik Leisure Manager.
O’Brien will join the Aligned Leisure team in June as they finalise the transition for management of the Eltham Leisure Centre.
Aligned Leisure General Manager – Operations, Shane Dunne, will continue in his role of transition manager until early August when he will officially hand over operational management to O’Brien.
Throughout his career, O’Brien has managed a number of community leisure facilities including the iconic Brunswick Baths and Genesis Fitness’ flagship Port Melbourne club.
Aligned Leisure’s Managing Director Cain Liddle explained “Liam has built a reputation for operating high quality leisure centres with a relentless focus on delivering high quality service.
“He is a proven leader, who drives a strong staff culture, establishes long lasting relationships, and has an impressive track record improving the financial and operational performances of facilities.”
O’Brien (pictured) has an in-depth background into the operational requirements of leisure centres.
Looking forward to his new role, he commented “this role is an exciting challenge for me.
“I will be responsible for the day to day operations of the well-loved Eltham Leisure Centre, and more importantly delivering exceptional value to our members and guests.”
“I’ve worked with many of the staff team at Eltham in the past and I am looking forward to working with them, the members and Council to re-launch the facility once the redevelopment is complete.”
The Eltham Leisure Centre is currently undergoing a $19.35 million redevelopment with the existing aquatic facility having closed on in June 2016 to enable works to commence.
The ‘dry’ component of the facility remains open during the construction of the aquatic area.
