Forum to explore value of the outdoors
Wellington is to host the Outdoor New Zealand's 2012 Outdoors Forum and Outdoor Awards on 12th and 13th October.
To be held at Wellington's C&Q Hotel, the event enables delegates from the heart of the outdoors community to share knowledge, ideas and discuss important issues and initiatives through workshops, seminars and networking opportunities.
The event theme for 2012 is 'What is the value of Outdoors to our Society?' with presentations chosen to match the theme, as well as for their interesting and inspirational views that need to be shared with the wider outdoors community.
The Outdoors Awards, which recognise the highest levels of individual and organisational achievement in outdoor education and recreation in New Zealand, are held at the Skills Active Dinner on the first evening of The Outdoors Forum.
The Awards will be hosted by Craig Goodall, Chief Executive of Auckland's North Harbour Stadium, and Steve Gurney, nine-time winner of Coast to Coast.
Outdoors Awards categories cover:
• Programme Award
• Emerging Instructor Award
• Volunteer Award
• Organisation Award

The Outdoors Forum is sponsored by Sport New Zealand, Skills Active and Water Safety New Zealand.
