Aligned Leisure recommences learn-to-swim programs in Mildura and Wodonga

While metropolitan Melbourne has returned to lockdown, facility operator Aligned Leisure has advised that this month has seen children return to water safety programs with the recommencement of learn-to-swim lessons at two of its key venues in regional Victoria.

Closed for three months, students ranging in age from infants to adults at Mildura Waves and Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre have eagerly returned to lessons during July, providing a valuable opportunity to continue building essential water safety skills and swimming development, in a fun and safe environment.

In light of the COVID-19 Health Alert, Aligned Leisure worked closely with relevant industry experts and government bodies throughout the closure to ensure that families, students and staff were well supported to return and that the highest standard of safety remain.

With both locations situated on the Murray River, residents are well known for their love of the water. The timing of these programs returning is ideal for helping ensure these communities are summer-ready and safe to enjoy the many great pools and waterways these regions have to offer.

Sharing in the excitement of seeing these communities return to their local pools and was pleased with over 80% of students returning immediately, Aligned Leisure Chief Executive, Shane Dunne stated “we’re grateful we have the opportunity to support our local communities through the return of their swimming programs.

“This is an incredibly challenging time for our community, so it’s wonderful to be able to provide something positive for our students to look forward to each week, and to continue focusing on improving their health, wellbeing and water safety education.”

“We wish to thank the many families that have supported us throughout our closure and reopening, and look forward to welcoming back many more families and students over the coming weeks.”
