Towers at Luna Park Melbourne undergo restoration
The iconic towers at the entrance to Luna Park Melbourne are undergoing major restoration work that will see their thematic trimmings and architecture being refreshed.
On social media this week, Luna Park Melbourne Chief Executive, Nathan Klassen “our iconic towers are getting some much-needed TLC, with an extensive restoration project kicking off this week.
“The makeover will include fully repainting the towers to their former glory and all of the lighting surrounding them is being brought back to its original 1912 glow.
“Similar to the dazzling facelift of Mr Moon in late 2022, the project is guided by a resident heritage architect, who has worked on many similar projects for the park, accompanied by the full support and approval of Heritage Victoria.”
Luna Park Melbourne was this week numbered on a controversial list of the 100 most boring tourist attractions in the world.
The research carried out by online gaming company Solitaired looked at 66.7 million Google reviews from 3,290 attractions in 71 countries and 384 cities. Rather than using Google star ratings, they based their rankings on attractions with the highest number of keywords mentioned that were synonymous with the word “boring”, such as “tiresome”, “dull” and “drab.”
Luna Park Melbourne was 80th on the list while Perth’s WA Museum Boola Bardip was Australia’s ‘highest’ ranked boring attraction at 16th.
The Branson Scenic Railway in Branson, Missouri, USA was identified as the most boring attraction in the world.
