Theatre Forum booked out
From tomorrow, professional theatre makers and arts workers from around Australia (working as independents in large and small companies, festivals and venues) will congregate in Brisbane for the second Australian Theatre Forum (ATF).
The Forum, being held at the Brisbane Powerhouse from 14th to 16th September, is set to be something special. Booked out, and coinciding with Brisbane Festival and Under the Radar, this forum will see cultural leaders and contemporary thinkers teasing out some of the big issues around practice, infrastructure and sustainability. Over three packed days, delegates will exchange experiences and ideas and build a vision for the future.
ATF curator Fiona Winning has confirmed a range of notable speakers and facilitators including Yaron Lifschitz, Sandra Phillips, Lenine Bourke, Kyle Morrison, Alison Croggon, Amitesh Grover, Kristine Landon-Smith and Darren O'Donnell. The full list of speakers, facilitators and delegates is available on the Australian Theatre Forum website
One of the key features of this year's ATF will be the Open Space Forums, which encourage participants to take responsibility for driving the agenda and facilitating the conversations that matter. Wesley Enoch will facilitate the group to respond to how theatre workers might innovate and invent. Participants will propose, lead and document discussions and develop pathways for change.
The inaugural ATF was in Melbourne in May 2009 and was attended by 300 theatre workers from around Australia - providing the first meeting place to strategise collectively in 25 years. At ATF 2011 the organisers are inviting the sector to review the changes since 2009 and set some new and dynamic directions for the next decade.
