Swim Coaches and Teachers Australia to stage SWIMCON international event in Nepal

Swim Coaches and Teachers Australia (SWIM/SCTA) has announced that it is to stage an international version of its SWIMCON event in Nepal from 6th to 8th March.

To be held at the Hong Kong International School in the Nepali capital of Kathmandu, SWIMCON international Nepal will include a day of pool lifeguard training, coaching development sessions and an advanced coaching stream.

Commenting on the event, SWIM/SCTA Chief Executive, Brendon Ward stated “SWIMCON International in Nepal and Hong Kong are being hosted following expressions of interest from the International School community in those countries combined with demand from throughout the region.

“Expats and locals in these countries are crying out for industry leaders to provide education and professional development opportunities, especially following the vacuum of these sorts of opportunities during COVID which has had an ongoing impact.

“Hosting in Nepal is of particular interest to us as this aligns with our strategic vision or enabling excellence in swimming and water safety and our goal to leave a positive foundation and legacy for the local community to build on across competitive swimming, learn to swim and water safety initiatives. There is an ongoing desire for us to continue working in developing countries to build capacity and capability for drowning prevention.”

“As part of the Nepal Project, we are partnering with the Global Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Rotary Club to extend our reach into the local community. This will allow us to provide life-saving aquatic education within a community which has historically suffered so much through drowning and natural disasters.”

SWIM/SCTA has also confirmed that SWIMCON25 will be held at Adelaide’s National Wine Centre from 19th to 21st September 2025.

The full program of presentations, workshops and networking events will follow.
