Suntec Singapore Convention Centre set to complete $140 million renovation

The Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre is progressing on a $140 million renovation that is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Major work at the venue has included an all-new entrance experience; new express escalators; a high-tech, two-story digital LED screen for branding, signage and videos; and the installation of what's being promoted as among the world's fastest public WiFi.

The free of chargeWiFi, designed to handle the latest tablet apps during full capacity, is part of a plan to integrate Suntec into Singapores urban core acting as a destination hub for entire events.

Further renovation plans include a new Suntec City Sky Garden with upscale dining and floor space for large musical groups and theatrical performances.

Suntec Chief Executive Pieter Idenburg explains "the building has served us extremely well.

"With the implementation of these planned enhancements, we will be well placed to meet the changing needs of our customers well into the next decade."

Suntec has direct access to 5,200 hotel rooms, 1,000 retail outlets, 300 restaurants, six museums and the futuristic new Esplanade Theatres On The Bay performing arts complex.
