Suntec International Signs Partnership with Adelaide Convention Centre

Barely eight months after its inception, Suntec International, a member of the ARA Group, has signed on a second partnership agreement, adding Australia to its portfolio for sales and marketing representation.

The contract with Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) comes just four months after it reached its first contract with the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Under the contract, Suntec International has been appointed the sales and marketing representative to spearhead efforts in drawing more meetings and events from Asia to Adelaide.

The partnership calls for sales driven initiatives that will generate leads and sales activities for MICE groups and associations heading to Adelaide.

ACC Chief Executive Alec Gilbert explains "we are pleased to have concluded this contract and see it as an exciting breakthrough in establishing a presence in the Asian market.

"Suntec International has a proven track record and the cultural know how for conducting business in Asia (and) this arrangement offers us immediate and direct access into the market and we believe that, with the number of direct flights emanating from Asia, Adelaide will make inroads into this sector."

Suntec International Chief Executive Pieter Idenburg adds "we are elated that Adelaide Convention Centre has picked Suntec International to be its sales and marketing representative in Asia.

"The ACC has built an excellent reputation throughout the years (and) with Asia rising as a strong economic power, Adelaide is well placed to serve as a destination of choice for all MICE sectors given its proximity.

"We are delighted to add ACC to our portfolio of clients and look forward to establishing a network of venues in different continents that will create greater business synergy for our partners."

Launched at IMEX 2010 in Frankfurt, Germany in May last year, Suntec International continues to grow at a ferocious pace, generating numerous databases and producing multiple leads for its clients. Its portfolio of services include sales and marketing representation, venue management and consultancy services, with a key focus on highly customized solutions to clients. It also offers clients expertise and cultural know-how for conducting business in the Asian region.

Opened in June 1987, the Adelaide Convention Centre was the first purpose-built convention centre in Australia. It was built 'to generate economic benefits for South Australia' by attracting a high yield tourism sector to the state for the purpose of attending events hosted at the Centre.

It is consistently ranked among the world's top convention centres.
