CrossFit Athletic to open third Sydney location

The growing popularity of CrossFit and the overall trend towards micro-gyms will see Sydney-based CrossFit Athletic open its newest facility in the Northern Beaches suburb of Mona Vale.

Already operating in the Sydney CBD and Brookvale, CrossFit Athletic’s latest facility incorporates an existing CrossFit licencee but now located in a new 600 metre2 space.

Established by business partner Paul Walton and Christian d’Astoli in 2010, CrossFit Athletic aims to provide a memorable fitness experience through quality coaching, exceptional customer service and a welcoming community.

d’Astoli explains “coming from a personal training background, we believe in constantly

developing our clients strength and conditioning with an emphasis on safety and bio-mechanical function.

“In doing, so we have established four different exercise programs; Base, Climb, Peak and our Holistic Ladies Program - (which) allows everyone to be catered for - developing their strength, conditioning and skill set at a level that suits their current situation.”

Offering these diverse programs, d’Astoli and Walton outgrew their first 200 metre² studio in Brookvale in just over two years.

As d’Astoli recalls “we opened the doors with 13 members and in that time saw our membership base grow to more that 160 people.”

As a result, the pair soon relocated CrossFit Athletic to a larger 650 metre² studio.

Key to CrossFit Athletic’s growth has been what d’Astoli refers to as “a commitment to developing the right core values and culture in our facilties.

“Backed by business coaches we have focused on getting the right staff and involving them and our members in our community and our aim to deliver a fitness experience through quality service and programs.”

With more than 100 people using each of CrossFit Athletic’ studios each day, Walton and d’Astoli consciously don’t pursue the mass membership of traditional ‘big box’ gyms. Instead, they are tapping into exercisers’ willingness to pay more for quality service that delivers results.
