Ron Mell to leave YMCA Australia

Ron Mell, the National Chief Executive of the YMCA of Australia, has resigned, prompted by his desire to move home to spend more time with his family in Perth.

Mell has served the YMCA locally, nationally and globally for 16 years, 11 as Chief Executive of Perth YMCA (now YMCA WA) and almost five as National Chief Executive.

Acknowledging his contribution to the 'Y', National YMCA President Andrew Smith stated "Ron has made a significant contribution during his time as National CEO and the Board thanks him for his commitment and dedication to the YMCA and for his leadership of the National Office.

“He has had a significant impact and will leave with a legacy of a YMCA that is safer for children and young people, and strongly driven by its values when making critical organisational decisions for today and the future.

“The Board would like to thank Ron for his commitment and dedication to the YMCA and wish him every success for the future.”

Mell's last day with YMCA Australia will be 2nd May 2016, with the YMCA Board appointing Melinda Crole to be acting Chief Executive from 3rd May, a role she will fill while an extensive recruitment process is undertaken.

Crole is currently Executive Manager of Licensing and Movement Development at YMCA Australia.
