Rainbow’s End scoops more awards at the ‘Young at Heart’ Employer awards

Rainbow’s End has won three ‘Young at Heart’ youth employer awards at New Zealand’s annual ‘Young at Heart’ Youth Employer Pledge Awards.

Presented yesterday (5th October), the awards acknowledge the input business has to creating sustainable employment opportunities.

The Auckland based theme park won the Innovative Youth Employer and was the joint winner for the Local Youth Employer award along with The Warehouse. They also took out the Best Exhibitor at this year’s Jobfest – an event which showcases job opportunities, attended by over 3,000 young people this year.

Welcoming the recognition, Rainbow’s End HR Team Development Manager Leanne Laloli explains “with a workforce of around 300 with an average age of 18, providing youth employment opportunities is embedded in the character of our company.

“We readily take every opportunity to ensure that our young employees feel supported and inspired with great leadership and the right training and development programmes.”

The company has introduced many award winning initiatives in the areas of staff training and recruitment which have been recognised internationally.

Laloli adds “we recognise that for the majority of the youth we employ that working at Rainbow’s End will most likely be their first working experience and therefore it is necessary for us to spend time to develop workplace skills, knowledge and behaviours that will allow them to be happy, confident and successful in the workplace.

“We are proud to be able to offer a great start into the workforce to so many wonderful young people.”

Rainbow’s End works with secondary schools delivering management and tourism talks to young people studying towards their NCEA.  They also provide placement opportunities for university students and are committed to the training and development of youth.
