Rainbow’s End named Auckland's best youth employer

Rainbow’s End has been crowned Auckland Youth Employer of the Year as part of the Youth Employment Pledge, Young at Heart Awards.

The Awards, presented at a ceremony held in Auckland last week, are part of Auckland Council’s Youth Employer Pledge scheme that was launched earlier this year. The scheme invited key employers from throughout the Auckland region to stand alongside Auckland Mayor Len Brown and become partners to support the creation of sustainable employment opportunities.

Welcoming the receipt of the Award, Rainbow’s End Human Resources Team Development Manager Leanne Laloli stated “with a workforce of around 260 with an average age of 18, providing youth employment opportunities is embedded in the character of our company.

“We readily take every opportunity to ensure that our young employees feel supported and inspired with great leadership and the right training and development programmes”.

Rainbow’s End formally pledged their support to Auckland Council to work collectively with other organisations, employers and youth boards to share their success stories, winning approaches and award-winning best practice HR resources, which in turn will help create greater employment opportunities.

Laloli adds “we recognise that for the majority of the youth we employ that working at Rainbow’s End will most likely be their first working experience and therefore it is necessary for us to spend time to develop workplace skills, knowledge and behaviours that will allow them to be happy, confident and successful in the workplace.

“We are proud to be able to offer a great start into the workforce to so many wonderful young people.”

Rainbow’s End received a total of four nominations in this year’s Awards including Auckland Youth Employer of the Year, JobFEST Exhibitor 2015, Youth Induction and Development Award and Youth Employment Programme Award.

Rainbow’s End joined a number of businesses earlier this year at JobFest15 where 50 employers with over 300 vacancies where able to connect with 2,000 young people looking for work in the region.
