Australia's first Journal of Fitness Research
The first free open access journal of its kind in Australia, the Journal of Fitness Research, was recently launched at the FILEX fitness industry convention in Sydney.
In an industry full of myths, claims, the Journal of Fitness Research aims to provide the opportunity for researchers to publish on the populations, communities and environments related to the fitness industry, and be a trusted source where professionals in recreation, fitness, clinical exercise and training can gather peer reviewed scientific information.
The Journal will publish articles of a high standard on various aspects of the fitness and exercise sciences, with the emphasis on the human sciences, broadly defined, applied to fitness, exercise, health and wellbeing.
Boasting a strong Editorial Board, the Journal of Fitness Research consists of some of the most highly educated and respected in the fitness industry, including Mark McKean PhD, Professor Brendan Burkett PhD, Chris Askew PhD AEP, Tony Boutagy BHMS (PhD Candidate), Professor Len Kravitz, PhD, and Professor John Hawley.
Research papers such as Quantifying and Comparing Activity in Group Exercise Classes A Literature Review and Effects of an Acute Bout of Static and Dynamic Stretching on Balance Performance in Older Adultsare now available to an international audience through the Fitness Research website.
A partnership between the University of the Sunshine Coast, the Australian Institute of Fitness, and Australian Fitness Network, Fitness Research was established in 2009 enabling fitness research to begin at the University of the Sunshine Coast, with an aim of improving the health and wellbeing of Australians.
Fitness Research welcomes submissions to the journal from leading authorities; articles and papers can be submitted through the website.
