Australian and New Zealand FECs do battle for IAAPA Brass Ring Award

Kidz Kingdom at Auckland theme park Rainbow's End and Wyncity Bowl and Entertainment at Werribee in Victoria are competing for recognition as the world’s top family entertainment centre (FEC) at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ upcoming Brass Ring Awards.

The Australasian facilities are competing with KidZania Istanbul in Turkey for the prestigious international award.

Kidz Kingdom, at Rainbow’s End opened in 2012 and has proved to be enormously popular with younger visitors and in particular has led to a 350% rise in birthday party bookings.

Along with other substantial developments including the new thrill ride Stratosfear, Kidz Kingdom has been pivotal to a substantial increase in visitors over the last three years. Rainbow's End Marketing Manager Katharine Murray explains “we see Kidz Kingdom as a fun transitional route for younger thrill-seekers on their way to conquering the bigger rides in later years.

“Kidz Kingdom also offers great value for money too, we have fabulous onsite café facilities, new rides in the all-weather fully covered outdoor area and an indoor facility complete with climbing structures, animated chickens and play for the tots as well.

“On the weekends and during school holidays there are also free daily magic shows. It really offers the complete package for a perfect family day out.”

Opened in February last year, Wyncity offers 24 bowling lanes, a 420 metre2 laser tag zone, bumper cars, mini golf, the Time Freak attraction, arcade games, a simulator, café and restaurant, a 60 car space underground carpark, conference facility and observation area.

IAAPA's prestigious Brass Ring Awards program recognises attractions from around the world for their achievements in marketing, live entertainment, food and beverage, human resources, retail and FEC operation.

Rainbow's End is a multiple past winner of Brass Ring Awards.

The Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday 18th November during the 2015 IAAPA Convention in Florida, United States.
